IELTS (International English Language Testing System)

IELTS is the world’s proven English test. Over 1.4 million candidates take the test each year to start their journeys into international education and employment. IELTS is recognised by more than 6000 institutions in over 135 countries. IELTS tests are held in over 500 centres with tests up to four times a month. IELTS respects international diversity and is fair to anyone who sits the test, regardless of nationality.

IELTS tests all four language skills – listening, reading, writing and speaking. The Speaking test is a face-to-face interview with a certified examiner, which is conducted on a different day upon notification. IELTS is available in two test formats: Academic or General Training. Difference is in reading and writing sections only.

Speaking 11 - 15 minutes 3 tasks Part 1- General questions about yourself and familiar topics Part 2- Talk about particular topic given Part 3- Further questions relating to part 2, discussion on abstract ideas / issues

The Academic format is for those who want to study undergraduate and postgraduate courses in English speaking university or Institutions.

The General Training is typically for those who are going to English-speaking countries to do secondary education, work experience, training programs and for migration purposes.

Here, in Nepal, British Council offers the Test and the cost is NRs 16,950 (From 1 April 2016). You will be able to preview your test result online on the 13 day of the written test and you can collect the result on the 17 day from British Council.
